Aerodynamic testing using the defence science and technology group wind tunnels

The Defence Science and Technology Group (DST) wind tunnels are important ground-test facilities used for research and development of aeronautical systems which support the Australian Defence Force (ADF). In this paper we will present the testing capabilities of the two significant wind tunnels operated by DST. These wind tunnels are the Low-Speed Wind Tunnel (LSWT) and Transonic Wind Tunnel (TWT). The tunnels support a range of activities including: support to operations, support to acquisition programs and applied research. Examples of how wind tunnel test campaigns are used to support these activities will be presented.
