In steel hot-water circuits, dispersed corrosion products of retentive deposits can be formed. They can aggravate beat transfer, cause local deposits beneatb porous coatings and also cause a considerable amount of surface contamination in nuclear reactor circuits due to radioactive metal nuclides. In order to avoid or eliminate such phenomena, numerous investigations have been carried out. The proposal which results from these is to undertake preoxidation of the steel surfaces in nuclear reactor circuits
