Acute renal artery embolism secondary to atrial fibrillation – An uncommon manifestation of a common disease

2016
Abstract Atrial fibrillation is a commonly encountered clinical condition, especially in predisposing conditions like rheumatic heart disease. The typical manifestations are palpitations and breathlessness. However, infrequently, it manifests in the form of certain complications. We present a case of a patient with rheumatic heart disease with valvular lesions with atrial fibrillation who presented with acute abdomen and on investigation was found to have renal artery embolism.
