Difference in Social Norms and Intercultural Communication

2004
Social norms, which are one of the important contents of culture, are divided into customs and habits, moral norms, legal norms and religious norms. Social norms from different cultures are different, and are the main factors that result in misunderstanding and conflicts in intercultural communication. It is the key to the development of the students' intercultural communication competence to understand and master the difference in social norms between western and eastern cultures. To improve the students' intercultural communication competence, we should take measures in terms of curriculum, textbook, teachers and students.
