The present invention provides a manufacturing apparatus and method of a LiFePO4 / C compound. The LiFePO4 / C material manufactured by the apparatus and method has high quality consistency and good processing performance. Electric and chemical properties of a lithium-ion battery can be improved greatly by adopting the LiFePO4 / C manufactured by the apparatus and method as a cathode active material. The apparatus has the following characteristics: the apparatus is a tiltable a rotary high temperature reactor, which employs a closed rotational cylinder with an inner wall section in a circular or polygonal shape; both ends of the closed rotational cylinder are provided with rotary ventilated joints, which can exhaust gas in closed condition and also be used for connecting an external gas source; and the apparatus is configured with a spherical zirconia grinding medium. During a LiFePO4 / C manufacturing process using the apparatus, steps of mixing, crushing, pre-roasting, carbon coating and high temperature synthesis are accomplished at one time; and the grinding medium always acts on the material to play the role of complete crushing, mixing and mechanical activation, etc.
