Background Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) is a serious condition. Two types of ACS are recognized - traumatic and non-traumatic. Non-traumatic ACS is a challenging diagnosis, which is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Objective To evaluate the prevalence of non-traumatic ACS and enumerate the conditions associated with a higher risk of mortality in hospitalized children with non-traumatic ACS using the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project’s 2012 Kids’ Inpatient Database (KID).
