FLAVONOLS FROM LEAVES OF Pluchea carolinensis (Jacq.) G. Don (Asteraceae)

The flavonols isorhamnetin-3- O-sulfate�(1)�and�3',4',5,6,7-pentahydroxy-3-methoxy- flavone ( 2),�wereisolatedfromn-BuOHcrudeextractbyfractionatingtheleaves� ofPluchea carolinensis�(Jacq.)�G.�Don�(Asteraceae).�Theisolatedcompoundswere� characterizedusingphysicalandspectroscopicmethods,�includingUV-Visiblein� MeOHbyaddingdiagnosticreagents�(NaOAc;�NaOAc/H 3 BO 3 �andAlCl 3 /HCl).�Also� 1 H,� 13 CNMR,�DEPT,�COSY,�NOESY,�HSQCandHMBCexperimentswereemployed.� The isolation and characterization of 3',4',5,6,7-pentahydroxy-3-methoxyflavone is the first report for the genus PlucheaCass.
