Özel Öğretim Kurumlarının -Dershanelerin- Kentteki Yer Seçimi: Trabzon Kenti Örneği

In Turkish legislation, in addition to the laws and regulations that mainly organize the establishment and operation of private education institutions, there are also directives that regulate the standards for all departments of private education institutions and the equipment and tools utilized in these institutions. However, there are no specifications and / or studies related to the location of the training centers in urban spaces and their integration in these spaces. In the present study, the actual status of the site selection criteria for urban private education institutions was scrutinized based on the example of Trabzon in Turkey. The study aimed to contribute to the literature based on the presence of similar situations in other urban areas, and related significant issues and assessments, albeit the issues are different in different urban areas. If these institutions would continue to exist in the education-instruction system or if a transformation into a special education institution would be implemented, it should be spatially examined with care to determine which would be a bigger problem; the transformation of these institutions located in the city center or using the main arteries in the city as open spaces.
