Structural, optical and photocatalytic properties of La0.7Ba0.3MnO3 nanoparticles prepared by microwave method

2019
Abstract La0.7Ba0.3MnO3 (LBMO) nanoparticles were synthesized via a reproducible, very fast, cheap, and environmentally friendly technique: microwave irradiation method. Structural, optical properties, and photo-catalytic properties of the nanoparticles are investigated by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and UV visible tests. The XRD characterization showed that all samples are crystallized in rhombohedral structure with the space group of R-3c. Moreover, the photo-catalytic property of LBMO is investigated based on the degradation of methyl orange (MO) in aqueous solution exposed to irradiation of both the visible- and sun-light. Remarkable photocatalytic property of the as-synthesized nanoparticles is observed in the visible-light for the degradation of MO. Also, the optical and photocatalytic properties of doped (LBMO) and un-doped LaMnO3 (LMO) perovskites are compared.
