Replication Data for: Survival analysis of tensile strength variation and simulated length-size effect along oak boards

2021
Dataset used to develop and calibrate the model for localized tensile strength along oak boards. A survival (or censored) analysis is performed on the cell-wise tensile strength of boards, which delivers coefficients for two different candidate distributions: (i) Beta and (ii) 3-parameter Weibull distributions. For both distributions, a parametric and a regression analyses are made. The calibrated model is used to simulate tensile strength and modulus of elasticity (MOE) profiles along boards of different sizes. These virtual boards are then used to simulate the size effect of the studied boards. The localized tensile strength was obtained by first testing the board in tension until failure. The remnant pieces were then tested in tension again. This allowed to obtain between 1 and 4 tensile strength values per board. Since for the testing in tension a certain length has to be clamped, there are sectors of the board that cannot be tested, as they are within the clamped region. These regions are considered as censored data.
