A theoretical method for calculating the line profiles in atomic emission spectra in alternating electric fields

2020
A unified approach is developed for calculating the profiles of the spectral lines of atoms in an alternating electric field on the basis of diagonalization of the energy matrix of an atom in the field. To calculate the Stark profile of the spectral line, a formula is proposed in which the profile width contains an explicit dependence on the parameters of the electric field. The algorithm of the method is implemented in the software package StarkD written in FORTRAN and Maple. In the framework of the proposed approach, a computer simulation of the spectral lines of the helium atom in alternating electric fields of linear and circular polarizations is carried out. In addition, the behavior of the spectral line profiles is considered depending on changes in the parameters of the electric field as well as on the electron plasma density and the temperature of helium atoms.
