Preliminary study on instrumental seismic intensity standard

Instrumental seismic intensity means the intensity that calculated by just using the seismic records,but it can reflect the effect extent of earthquakes directly.Instrumental seismic intensity has the characteristics of intuitive and simple,and can be obtained rapidly after an earthquake.As the density of seismic stations gradually increased in our country and related technical continually improved,the quantity and quality of seismic records also improved greatly,therefore,instrumental seismic intensity directly calculation is possible.In this paper,through the comparison of seismic intensity standards that used in the USA,Japan,and China mainland,we proposed a new instrumental seismic intensity that refers to the Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity calculation method.In order to meet the special requirements in our country,we redesign the amplitude filter and reselect the duration time.Verifications by using the strong ground motion records of the great Wenchuan earthquake and Chi-Chi earthquake shows that,our instrumental seismic intensity can generate reasonable intensities,and have a good agreement with the investigated intensities,with a high accuracy.
