Comparison of Janus and Field Test Aircraft Detection Ranges for the Line-of-Sight Forward Heavy System

Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the feasibility of accrediting the Janus combat simulation for use with an Army concept called Model-Test-Model. Aircraft detection ranges from an operational field test are compared to similar ranges generated by the Janus combat simulation. Means and distributions of detection ranges for both helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft are studied. Methods of collecting detection data in field tests and representing aircraft in Janus must be improved for Janus to be accredited for aircraft detection range analysis of field tests. (Author)
