Hardware Implementation of a Human Movement Detection FMCW Radar

2021
In this paper, a low power consumption and low cost FMCW radar is presented, for the purpose of human vital signs detection. The radar operates in a 200MHz bandwidth centered at 4.8GHz. The device works in outdoor or indoor scenarios. A high gain transmit and receive antenna is used in this radar device, with high selectivity pass band filter, a good rejection lowpass filter, and a low loss power divider. Moreover, a Xilinx Artix-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used for implementing the signal processing algorithm. Also, the parameters of the signal processor can be manually reconfigured during the device is working.
