Edgellia libanica n. organo-gen., n. organo-sp., a new Dasycladalean organ from the Lower Cretaceous of Lebanon
2021
Edgellia libanica n. organo-gen., n. organo-sp., a new Dasycladalean organ, is described. The comparison of this unique remain to the 14 existing organo-genera suggests that it could correspond either to internal clusters of cysts of an endosporate Dasycladale, possibly Harlanjohnsonella annulata Elliott, or to external gametophores of a choristoporate or goniosporate Dasycladale. To date, it is only known from the Jezzinian regional stage of a locality in Anti-Lebanon near the Lebanese-Syrian border.
