Inductive Effects of Elicitors on Enzyme Activity and Aroma Component Accumulation in Tobacco Leaves

2011
The influences of elicitors on the activity of key secondary metabolism enzymes and accumulation of aroma components in tobacco leaves were studied with pot experiments by spraying elicitors on leaf surface. The results showed that the enzyme activities of phenylalanine ammonialyase(PAL),polyphenol oxidase(PPO) and peroxidase(POD) in tobacco leaves treated with elicitors were higher than those in the CK,and the contents of glandular trichome exudates, petroleum ether extract, carotenoids and polyphenols were also higher. On the whole, leaf treatment with elicitors of 100 mg/L methyl jasmonate and 200 mg/L chitosan was beneficial to the formation of aroma components in tobacco.
