A generalized culture-based optimization model

2012
Many of the existing intelligent algorithms are designed for specific problems and some theoretical analysis does not unify under a common framework. Although it's impossible to design a unified model to solve all the optimization problems, it's possible for us to design a universal model to analyze the algorithms' mechanism. Based on the development of cultural studies in recent years, this paper first summarizes and extracts the problems' characteristics, then sets up a cultural model from the combination of four elements of cultural environment, including geographical environment, economic soil, social structure and international conditions. This is the first time to propose such kind of model through the correspondence between problems and culture. With this model, different algorithms can be described in this framework of the universal model. Two actual examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
