Grain plumpness and yield characters of new rice varieties in Liaoning.

The grain plumpness and its relationship with grain yield traits of different new rice varieties were studied according to the classification of brown rice thickness.The results showed that 1000-grain weight and thickness of brown rice changed in the same trend.The grain plumpness degree of new rice varieties was between 77.60%and 93.03%,and had significant difference between varieties.The grain plumpness correlated significantly with 1000-grain weight an did not correlated with other yield characters.The grain plumpness was not consistent with yield level.High yield varieties had the features of high effective panicles,high panicle grain density,high filled grain/m2 and moderate grain plumpness.
