Thermo-Optic and Dispersion Properties of Host–Guest Doping Polymer
2013
A diazobenzene chromophore molecule was synthesized using the diazo-coupling reaction. The host–guest doping polymer was prepared based on host polyacrylate and guest diazobenzene chromophore. The UV-induced trans/cis photoisomerization and the reflex-isomerization behavior of the polymer were investigated. The results indicated that the polymer could undergo photochromism after a given UV wavelength photoinduction. The measurements of refractive index (n) and thermo-optic coefficient (dn/dT) were demonstrated at different wavelengths and temperatures by ATR technique. The refractive index dispersion curves and Sellmeyer coefficients of polymer were obtained by Sellmeyer equation. The experimental results indicated that the obtained host–guest doping polymer material would be useful for the design of high performance thermo-optic switch and optical storage device.
