Theoretical Study on Isotope-Selective Dissociation of the Lithium Chloride Molecule Using a Designed Terahertz-Wave Field

Isotope-selective dissociation of the lithium chloride (LiCl) molecules is investigated by the quantum mechanical calculations. In the mixture of LiCl and LiCl, the LiCl molecule in the lowest rovibrational state is excited into a high rotational state by the frequency comb whose spectral frequencies are tuned to the rotational transition frequencies of LiCl. The excited LiCl molecule is dissociated into the atomic species by the second terahertz field. Our simulations suggest a potential of the isotope separation with terahertz fields.
