Displayed still picture selector

PURPOSE: To provide a display still picture selector which automatically select the still picture to be displayed next based on the priority set previously and in accordance with the remaining time. CONSTITUTION: The still picture to be displayed next is specified among plural still pictures based on the display order of a set program, and the still picture under display and the specified still picture are switched with each other in response to a manual operation. In such a still picture display system, an undisplayed still picture specifying means 2 is provided to specify an undisplayed still picture following the still picture that already received a display command together with a next display still picture sepecifying means 5 which specifies the still picture of the highest display order as the next display still picture among those undisplayed still pictures, a detecting means 10 which detects a fact that the total scheduled time of the undisplayed still pictures is smaller than the prescribed time based on the remaining display time, and an updating means 11 which decides the eligibility of the next display still picture when the output of the means 10 is generated and updates the next display still picture only when its unqualifiedness is decided.
