The quality and the endurance of most assembling part of machines and structures such as motors and aircraft depend on the clamping forces of bolts. Digital torque wrench can be usefully used to measure the multi-component forces and moments. This paper describes the design process and evaluation results of a LCD digital torque wrench. The integral digit readout type torque wrench whose capacity is 200 N.m has been developed. It has the functions of track, peak and breakaway torque monitoring modes. In order to evaluate characteristics of sensing part such as sensitivity, nonlinearity errors, and repeatability errors, calibration test were performed using standard torque cell. Calibration test results show that uncertainty of the torque wrench is less that ±O.75% of reading.
