Pathogens of Nosocomial Infection in Patients with Spinal Cord Disorders

2004
OBJECTIVE To study the kinds and drug-resistance of the pathogens of nosocomial infection in patients with spinal cord disorders. METHODS Retrospective surveys of nosocomial infection in 88 cases with spinal cord disorders were carried out in our hospital between 1996 to 2002. The pathogen analysis and the drug sensitivity test were done for cases with nosocomial infection. RESULTS The main pathogens were Gram-negative bacteria (68.83%),then Gram-positive ones (27.27%) and fungi (3.90%). Among them,Escherichia coli was the highest (38.96%). The second one was the Staphylococcus aureus (9.09%). Drug-resistant strains had increased. CONCLUSIONS The antibiotics should be used reasonably, which can reduce the development of drug-resistant strains.
