Equilibrium interface width for epitaxial growth with step-height-independent hopping of adatoms.
1991
The steady-state interface width {sigma} is calculated in a model of crystal growth where steps are smoothed by the hopping of noninteracting adatoms at a rate {ital W} independent of step height. {sigma} has the same logarithmic dependence on size as for diffusive smoothing, but a stronger-than-linear dependence on the ratio of the deposition rate to the hopping rate {ital W}. Simulations are in good agreement with a mean-field theory.
