Test of Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel against MRSA

Aim To study the Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) in antibacterial activity.Methods Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel was extracted with alcohol,chloroform,n-butyl alcohol,distilled water in order.Four groups were obtained.The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)with Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel was measured by macrodilition with MRSA and MSSA;The mice model was prepared by intraperitoneal injection of MRSA,Mice were divided into the high,middle and low dose of Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel group,yinhuang Capsules group,compared with the model group.Results Each component from Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel has different level of inhibitory effect on MRSA and MSSA,among which n-butyl alcohol component has the strongest antimicrobial effect followed by alcohol,distilled water components.The survival rates of other treatment groups except the high dose group were highter than the model group.The survival rate of the middle dose group was the hightest.Conclusion Gentiana veitchiorum Hemel on MRSA and MSSA show some antibacterial activity;but MRSA infections have a protective effect on mice.
