High-performance Solution-processed Large-area Transparent Self-powered Organic Near-infrared Photodetectors

2021
Abstract The photoresponse of the transparent self-powered near-infrared (NIR) organic photodetectors (OPDs) with a high conductivity poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-polystyrene sulfonate upper transparent electrode, prepared by a lamination transfer process, has been analyzed. The large-area transparent self-powered NIR OPDs have a specific detectivity of >1012 Jones at 850 nm, a high -3 dB cutoff frequency of 71 kHz and a linear dynamic range of 154 dB. The performance of the solution-processed transparent NIR OPDs is comparable to that of a control opaque NIR OPD with a 100 nm thick Al contact, providing a platform technology for a plethora of applications in self-powered monitoring systems, optical communications, wireless appliances and Internet-of-Things.
