Tone selection for minimum spanning circle method in peak-to-average power ratio reduction

2008
PAPR problem is a major drawback of multicarrier transmission system, known as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete multitone (DMT). Tone reservation (TR) is one of the PAPR reduction methods. Minimum spanning circle method (MSCM) is a realization of TR with low computational complexity. In an OFDM system with multiple reserved tones, extended MSCM is used to get the reduction by using MSCM sequentially on each reserved tone. Actually different optimization order will result in different PAPR reduction performance. In this paper, a tone selection method in using extended MSCM is proposed, which helps get more PAPR reduction with equal number of reserved tones. The simulation results show that our tone selection method can improve the PAPR reduction performance of extend MSCM in multiple reserved tones circumstances.
