Energy storage based industrial power management system under smart grid concept

An industrial power management system containing MW sized energy storage under smart grid control concept has been designed to meet the needs of modern coal mines and related society. The smart coal mine power system brings three basic benefits to operations: 1. Increased power robustness & reliability through systematic design and optimization; 2. Operational efficiency improvements through the application of unified intelligent compensation devices integrated with energy storage; 3. Environmental friendliness through the integration of large scale energy storage, allowing applications such as energy arbitrage, renewable integration and peak shaving. Multiple operating modes and functions are studied through digital simulation to show the effectiveness. A field demonstration (3MW/2MWH hybrid storage system) has been planned for Shenhua's Wuhai coal mine site.
