Simulation for the application of prediction filtering technique in photoelectric theodolite

In a photoelectric theodolite, the time delay of TV or IR miss distance will have a relative large influence on stability and tracking accuracy of the control system. Two prediction filters, i.e., Kalman filter and finite memory smooth filter, are designed according to the real-time property and accuracy demands of the tracking and control system. The simulation is carried out according to the several practical operating cases of photoelectric theodolite. The simulation results show that the prediction filtering technique can effectively improve the stability margin of phase angle and performance of the control system.
