Physicochemical mechanisms of nucleation in emulsifier-free emulsion processes

The physicochemical mechanisms of nucleation in emulsifier-free latex polymerization were studied. It was experimentally found that the nucleation of polymeric species starts exactly at the micellization point of surface-active oligomers generated during the polymerization. The high monodispersity of polymeric species in such systems was explained by a significant reduction in the nucleation period.
