Observation of perylene excimers in Langmuir—Blodgett films

Abstract Low-temperature fluorescence studies of perylene in Langmuir—Blodgett films using fluorescence spectroscopy and a time-correlated single-photon counting technique are reported. The spectra and fluorescence decay curves are presented. The results indicate the formation of excimers at 110 K, in contrast with dimer formation at 293 K.
