Effects of Cu~(2+) and Cd~(2+) on Primary Nutrient Substances Metabolism in the Liver of Bufo gargarizans

2009
The changes in sub-acute toxicity of Cu~(2+) and Cd~(2+) for 42 days and recovery in clean water for 30 days on the metabolism of primary nutrient substances in the liver of Bufo gargarizans was measured. The results showed that along with the time of exposure to Cu~(2+) and Cd~(2+) ,glycogen content decreased in prophase and increased in anaphase. Protein content rose at first and then decreased afterwards and fat content decreased continuously. After 30 days in clean water, the contents of glycogen, protein and fat appeared to return to normal levels. The results indicate that after 30 days recovery in clean water, the metabolism of primary nutrient substances in liver of the toad exposed to Cu~(2+) and Cd~(2+) may be restored to normal,pre-exposure levels.
