A photometric and spectrographic study of the variable star HD 94033

1985
New photometric (uvbyβ) and spectrographic observations of the dwarf Cepheid HD 94033 are described. The light amplitude, 0m.80 in V, and radial-velocity amplitude, 2K = 52 km s-1, are unusually large. The mean effective temperature and surface gravity are >Teff log g< = 4.14. The mean radial velocity, +268 km s-1, and low-metal abundance, [Fe/H] ≡ -2.4, indicate that the star is a very extreme Population II star. Standard evolutionary theory indicates the mass is 0.9 Msun; and the age is 6.5×109 years. In many respects the star is similar to GD 428.
