Fluctuating High-Frequency Voltage Drive System of SPM Motor

The accurate estimation of rotor position and speed plays an important role in the sensorless control system of surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPM motors). The “saturated saliency” of SPM motor can be set up when the fluctuating high-frequency voltage is injected into the motor due to the motor stator inductance nonlinear saturation characteristics. The accurate estimation of rotor position of SPM motors can be realized through the detection of the corresponding current, which is induced by the “saturated saliency” of SPM motors. In this paper, the error compensation module based on the rotor position tracking observer is proposed. The fluctuating high-frequency voltage drive scheme of position sensorless SPM motor is established. The steady-state and dynamic performance of the drive scheme are examined by simulations. It is confirmed that the drive system can accurately estimate rotor position and speed.
