Unlimited FTTH-PON scaling by exploiting the AWG free spectral range

2005
This paper investigates the performance of a novel 2.5 Gbps FTTH-PON network architecture which employs a passive optical booster configuration for future user scaling. The passive booster configuration uses an N/spl times/N AWG and exploits its cyclical routing table which is made possible by the device's free spectral range (FSR) property configuration for future user and services scaling. The new configuration is compared with a conventional access network configuration which is based on the FTTH-EPON standard.
