THE STATE OF FIRST STAGE SPECIAL APTITUDE TEST SCORES AT THE COMPLETION OF THE MUSICAL HEARING, READING AND WRITING COURSE

2012
In this study, the questions and subjects constituting the First Stage Music Special Aptitude Test, which is applied to select students for the undergraduate programmes in music education, are comparatively evaluated by applying the same test at the completion of six-semester Musical Hearing, Reading and Writing course series. The study started in August 2007 and continued with the same students through September 2007 and finished May 2010. The results of the study show no significant difference between the means calculated from the scores on the entire test. Although scores obtained from certain subcategories of the test are statistically significant in the positive direction, they reflect an average level of improvement, and hence, do not reflect the expected development.
