Myocardial dysfunctions in septic shock

1993
: Acute myocardial dysfunction is part of the initial presentation of septic shock. This sudden and more or less intense dysfunction is potentially reversible. It consists of a disturbance of the systolic function in both ventricles, manifested by an ejection fraction degression which persists after correction of a possible hypovolaemia, associated with a disturbance of the diastolic function which restricts ventricular filling. These cardiac disorders interfere with adaptation to the sepsis and are clinically expressed by tachycardia.
