Cooperative Efforts In Doctoral Studies
2013
In this paper, we explore the question of cooperative efforts in doctoral studies. We investigate under which circumstances it may be beneficial to work individually or as part of a research team. This has been supported by studies of the impact of the research environment on re- search performance from the literature and data from consecutive doctoral studies surveys conducted at Lund University in 2007 and 2012. We also look at potential risks with team- work in doctoral studies. We conclude that it is more common for students working actively as part of a research group to be satisfied with the opportunities afforded to them. They also find their working experience more enjoyable.
