Kinetika Degradasi COD dari Limbah Berwarna denganMenggunakan Elektroagulasi

2015
Colored waste water especially for textile waste water is a recalcitrant waste water which is difficult to be treated biologically. Waste water in this category is characterized by the ratio of Chemical Oxygen Demand to Biological Oxygen Demand {COD/BOD) is > 6. High cos£ of treatment is one problem that was faced by industrial people. Then, an electrocoagulation method was used to treat colored waste water which will be able to reduce COD content, remove color and also reduce Total Suspended Solid. Synthetic waste water used in this study was made from Direct Red 12 Be and Direct Black Ex. The artificial waste water was used to study kinetics of COD degradation by electrocoagulation. The experiments were set up at various initial pH condition and various distance of electrodes. At initial pH of 7.0, and various distance of electrodes 2cm; 3 cm; and 4 cm, it was .found that the best COD degradation constant ( k) was at 2 cm distance of electrodes. The kinetics constant were 0.0202 minute for Direct Red 12 B and 0,0242 minute-1for DirectBlack Ex . At various initial pH which are 4.0; 5.0: 6.0; and 7.0, the best COD degradation constant ( k) was at initial pH 5.0 with electrode distance was 2 cm . which were 0.0369 minute for Direct Red 12 B and 0,0307 minute for DirectBlack Ex.
