A Raman study of adamantane (C10H16), diamantane (C14H20) and triamantane (C18H24) between 10 K and room temperatures

Abstract The Raman spectra of adamantane (C 10 H 16 ), diamantane (C 14 H 20 ) and triamantane (C 18 H 24 ) have been investigated between 10 and 300 K and the results presented here. All three solids show transitions to a pre-melting plastic phase; the plastic transition in adamantane is investigated and also the solid—solid phase transitions in diamantane and triamantane.
