Acute haemodialysis nurse: role development in health assessment

Patients requiring haemodialysis therapy often have complex comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. The acute haemodialysis nurse therefore requires clinical examination skills and the ability to think critically and escalate care appropriately. Educational pathways for advanced nurses need to be standardised, and continuous assesments to revalidate skills are required.
