Analysis of reciprocating plate feeders for coal handling equipment

1988
Analyzes factors that influence operation of reciprocating plate feeders used for coal unloading from hoppers. Two groups of factors are evaluated: those characterizing a hopper-feeder system (e.g. plate diameter, revolution rate, attack angle, angle of hopper wall inclination in the bottom zone, plate position in relation to other hopper elements etc.), and those characterizing coal stored in a hopper (e.g. bulk density, angle of internal friction, moisture content etc.). Mathematical models that describe feeder operation considering all significant factors are evaluated. On the basis of mathematical models an optimization procedure aimed at reducing energy consumption of coal handling to a minimum is developed. Recommendations for design procedure are made. 7 refs.
