The present invention relates to a catalyst system for the steam reforming of hydrocarbons into hydrogen gas or the reaction of the oxo. The conversion catalyst containing nickel as the active ingredient, as a rare earth promoter, synthetic carbon additives is an anti-eucryptite, alumina, magnesium oxide carrier, cement binder, were prepared by impregnation method. The pore volume of the catalyst support of the present invention is used in control 0.20 ~ 0.27mL / g, pores larger than 250N / particle to crushing strength. Suitable reformer inlet temperature 450 ~ 630 ℃, outlet temperature 700 ~ 950 ℃; carbon conversion airspeed <2000h-1; overall steam to carbon ratio from 2.5 to 7.0; 1.5 ~ 4.0MPa pressure conditions for the preparation of hydrogen or oxo gas. The conversion catalyst activity was stabilized, the conversion of methane outlet meet the process requirements.
