The invention discloses a sulfate bright tinning solution and a preparation method thereof; the sulfate bright tinning solution comprises 20-60 g/L of tin(II) sulfate, 80-120 mL/L of sulfuric acid, 0.03-0.2 g/L of benzalacetone, 0.03-0.3 g/L of phthalimide, 0.1-2 mL/L of polyethylene glycol, 0.2-4 mL/L of peregal (O-30), 8-16 mL/L of acetic acid, 0.5-2 g/L of succinic acid, 1-2 g/L of benzoic acid, 0.8-2 g/L of citric acid, 0.5-1 g/L of oxalic acid, 1-2 mL/L of triton X-100, 0.1-3 mL/L of methyl salicylate, 0.1-0.2 mL/L of GPE defoaming agent, 0.9-10 mL/L of absolute ethyl alcohol, and the balance of water. The sulfate bright tinning solution scarcely produces foam during plating, has good dispersibility, covering capacity and good stability, and is more environmentally friendly since no carcinogens or aldehydes are added.
