High-sensitivity high-resolution ruby laser spectrometer based on selective loss principle

1975
The results are given of a detailed investigation of the influence of selective losses in a resonator on the spectral characteristics of ruby laser radiation. The conditions for the appearance of selective losses in the emission spectrum of the ruby laser are determined. A study is made of the influence of the laser parameters and recording apparatus on the spectrometer sensitivity. The maximum sensitivity, corresponding to the optimal resonator parameters, is 5×10−8 cm−1. Methods are suggested for the determination of the absorption line parameters.
