Primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the breast: a case report and review of 38 chinese cases.

2012
Introduction First proposed by O’Brien and Stout in 1964, malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is a soft tissue neoplasm with poor prognosis. MFH is also known as pleomorphic fibrous xanthoma, malignant fibrous xanthoma, and pleomorphic fibrous histiocytoma. A possible origin of MFH is the tissue histiocyte and fibroblastic cell. MFH is most frequently found in the lower and upper extremities and retroperitoneum and it very rarely occurs in breasts. Here, we report a case of primary MFH of the breast in a 37-year-old Chinese female and review 38 other similar cases from a total of 23 Chinese reports in the past 22 years.
