Some contributions on attachment theory and research.

This chapter aims to introduce the biological basis for attachment theory and to describe some of the findings from subsequent attachment research which are of value for child psychotherapists. Topics include: evolution and the need for attachment; abuse; security of attachment: the observed infant (secure attachment, insecure attachment, observations in the home); the insecure disorganised-disoriented attachment pattern; fathers; changes in attachment pattern; the infant's contribution; and intergenerational transmission.
