Co-transformation of Non-selectable Higher Plant Genes into Aspergillus nidulans: Transfer of a Vicia faba Legumin B Gene

Summary The co-transformation of an Aspergillus nidulans pyrimidine auxotrophic mutant with the complementing gene and an unlinked legumin B gene of the broad bean ( Vicia faba L.) is reported. Trans formed colonies have been screened by a colony filter-hybridization assay for co-transformation. In all co-transformants tested, legumin B specific RNA could be detected in mycelium as well as in spores. No legumin-like material could be found by ELISA analysis.
