Reduction of Dust in the Working Zone of the Shot Blasting Area of Foundry Production

Analysis of the dust concentration in the operator’s working zone in the foundries of Russian enterprises revealed significant excess of MPC. The results of the survey of the area of shot blasting of parts at the foundry production are given. The dispersed and elemental composition of the emitted dust is determined when performing this technological operation. Given the pollution of the atmospheric air of the industrial zone, it was proposed to dismantle the cyclone and install a more advanced device of the same type. It provides an additional internal perforated wall, which is located with the formation of a gap between it and the body, and also an irrigated packing in the exhaust pipe to collect fine dust. The innovative cyclone has a high degree of purification, since along with the content of two fundamentally different stages of reducing the concentration of dusty air, the perforated inner wall prevents the entrainment of particles thrown by centrifugal force and collected in the gap. Installation of the proposed ventilation device will reduce the damage caused to the working zone and increase the amount of recycled dust.
