Inelastic processes in the hydrated surface layer of quartz glass

Inelastic phenomena in the hydrated surface layer of quartz glass were considered. It was shown that the internal friction is due to the formation of adsorption complexes with a coordination bond and to the mechanically initiated desorption of water molecules bonded to the quartz glass structure by hydrogen bonds and molecular forces.
